'This York was delivered in Oct. 1945 to the RAF as TS798, but joined BOAC on 09 Dec 45. It was issued civil registration G-AGNV and was used initially for training.
It then entered scheduled BOAC service as "Moreville", as part of the 'M' class service to Calcutta as a 50-seater aircraft.
It was later named "Middlesex" and flew its last BOAC flight in Nov. 1954.
The York was sold to Skyways Ltd. which retired it in May 1964, after which it made the final Avro York flight for permanent display.' |

In the vertical climb position we see English Electric P.1B Lightning, XG337. 'Started life as one of the 20 development
batch English Electric P1B. Received numerous mods over its life as a trials aircraft at Warton and Boscombe Down,
probably the most noticeable was an F3 fin.'

Delivered to the RAF as Hastings C.1 TG511 in 1948. Converted to a Hastings T.5 in 1959. Made last ever Hastings flight
to RAF Cosford for the RAF Museum in 1977. Allocated maintenance serial 8554M.
Gloster Javelin FAW.1, XA564
UK's only FAW.1 on display at RAFM Cosford. Gloster's last fighter was designed as RAF's first all-weather interceptor, entering frontline service in 1956 with No. 46 Sqn. at RAF Odiham.
The FAW.1 was powered by a pair of Armstrong-Siddeley Sapphire Sa.6 10201 and 10301 engines of 36.9 kN thrust each that required a cartridge starter.
The aircraft was fitted with the AI.17 radar and 30mm cannon.
The initial production run of 40 FAW.1s also served as test platforms.
A total of 435 Javelins were built and served in seventeen RAF squadrons plus OCUs, many being converted to different marks. |

The FW190A-8 was a fighter-bomber version of the ‘Butcher Bird’, and was produced in greater numbers than any other sub-type. This variant was very effective in combat below 7,000m/22,965ft due to the performance of its BMW 801 powerplant. Messerschmitt Me-262A-2A Schwalbe, '2' (Registration/serial previously listed as: 112372)
'This Me-262A was surrendered to the Allies in 1945 and later flown to Farnborough for evaluation, being allocated the RAF serial VK893 in September 1945 in place of the Air Ministry number AM51.
By 1947 it was in the Cranwell station museum where it remained until 1960. It was allocated the maintenance serial 8482M on 16 February 1976, and later that year moved to Cosford.
It moved to the RAF Museum at Hendon in 2003, and was returned to Cosford in 2017.' |
